The Westin Resort Villas
St. John, USVI,
The Westin St. John Resort Villas, a 47-acre timeshare resort located on Cruz Bay, was damaged by Hurricane Irma. Shortly thereafter, DBI sent a team of building consultants, MEP engineers, and landscape architects to the property to perform a comprehensive assessment of the damages wrought by Irma. After performing a preliminary moisture and damage survey of all 30 plus buildings, DBI issued a moisture map survey and mitigation method statement which was utilized by the restoration contractors as a road map for emergency water mitigation and which became the basis for remedial repairs. DBI remained embedded on the property over the next several months to complete comprehensive damage assessments, repair protocol, and cost estimates for all 252 of the timeshare villas and various other structures on the property, including restaurants, physical plants, office, and conference centers, and the main lobby/reception building. The reception building, plus the wood frame roof structures of 6 guest buildings were completely destroyed. Over the course of the next 18 months, DBI maintained a presence on the property. DBI was advised by our clients that they were able to reach a resolution of property damages in the range of $105M.
