DBI’s core function is identification and evaluation of damage to buildings resulting from any number of causes including fire, flood, broken water/fire sprinkler piping, wind (hurricanes, tornados), and earthquakes, among others. Damages are noted and documented during physical inspections of subject properties and an appropriate repair scope and cost estimate for repairs necessary to restore a subject property to pre-damaged condition is formulated and presented in a technical report for our clients. The fundamental skills required for this position include understanding of construction principles and technology, experience in building damage evaluation, and commercial construction estimating. Candidates with insurance industry experience, particularly in commercial property damage claims adjusting, are encouraged to apply. We are also interested in people with project management-level experience in the remediation/restoration industry. Educational backgrounds in engineering, architecture, construction project management, and related areas of academic study are a plus. Candidates with experience in building or remodeling trades will also be considered.

Applicants should have above average verbal and written communication facilities and the ability to present themselves confidently in meetings and negotiations. Additionally, the position requires a high level of proficiency in MS Office (Word, Powerpoint, Outlook, and, particularly, Excel). Experience with Xactimate and Bluebeam Revu are particularly valuable as well, as is some knowledge of construction scheduling programs such as Primavera or MS Project.

The position includes traveling for inspections of damaged structures and for follow-up meetings with other industry professionals, often locally and regionally, but also to other areas of North America and, occasionally, abroad.

Total compensation package will be determined based on experience. Package includes two bonus reviews per year, which offers financial rewards for the hours worked by an individual as well as opportunity for team performance. At DBI we also offer medical, vision, and dental plans, 401K plan with 50% company matching up to $7,500 per annum, and a life insurance plan.
